The O'ahu Fringe Festival 2019

fringe2019logoblacknobackground2.jpG

The O’ahu Fringe Festival is coming to Chinatown Honolulu soon for its sixth season on January 10 – 13, 2019. The Fringe is open to any and all performing artists; giving all involved a place to showcase their work in an atmosphere of community and creativity.

Similar to other Fringe festivals around the world, O’ahu Fringe features performances in a variety of genres. This year includes dance, theatre, shadow puppetry and even a augmented reality circus act, plus more art brought to you by a diverse range of artists from here and afar. For Fringe 2019 we welcome first timers Strada Company, Anne Goresht, Maggie Odom, Eleanor O’Brien, Ed Chevy, Mary Lou Sanelli and The Black Reds with Fringe alumni Jerome James. We are also excited that returning to Fringe are Convergence Dance Theatre, Jeff Gere, Andrew Towl, Malcolm Grissom, Dancers Unlimited now based in New York, PlayBuilders of Hawai’i Theatre Company with an audience interactive theatre piece by Becky McGarvey and Mama Ensemble who will once again perform with their babies, who are now toddlers. These artists present shows that are suitable for all ages, and we have dedicated Sunday, January 13th as our Family Fringe Day.

This year’s shows will be staged at: The ARTS at Marks Garage, Next Door, Sun Yat Sen Park, Ong King Arts Centre and at Queen Emma Ballet Studio. The proximity of these spaces enables the audiences to go from one venue to another with ease. It also encourages audiences to venture out and see other acts they may not necessarily see at these venues.

Tickets for each show are set at $10.00. On Sunday there is an $8.00 charge for 12 year olds and under. Applicable fees apply on all tickets sold. Affordable tickets is a great incentive for the adventurous audience to see more than one show on a single night, or to return the next night and do it all over again. Or take the plunge with our amazing deal and see unlimited shows with our $100 Fringe Pass. Be adventurous – the Fringe encourages and welcomes such audiences! Make it a fringey New Year this coming January 2019. Come and celebrate with us. It’s our 6th birthday!
