Destitute and impoverished, gravedigger Baylen (Antonio Anagaran) and his wife Margot (Mor Ben Haim), struggle daily to keep a roof over their heads and warm food in their bellies while tending desperately to the needs of an unhappy, constantly crying infant.

A somewhat chance meeting with Charles (Grey Buxton), a young man who has become heir to his recently departed father’s wealth and business, leads Baylen to make choices that will benefit his family while at the same time surely compromise his relationship with his closest friend and fellow gravedigger, Gizzer (Danny O’Brien).

Directed by Jim Aina, THE GRAVEDIGGER’S LULLABY by Jeff Talbott is a story with grit, intrigue and humor. You may find yourself questioning the paths that the characters have taken long after witnessing the play.

The actors are talented and well cast. The relationships of their characters to one another are tangible and real. The bond crafted between Anagaran and O’Brien as the two gravediggers, Baylen and Gizzer are especially noteworthy. Their fight scene teems in realism thanks in large part to stage combat choreographer Reb Allen.

THE GRAVEDIGGER’S LULLABY plays at TAG at The Brad Powell Theatre in The Dole Cannery Shops through November 3, 2019. For tickets and information go to www.taghawaii.net or call 808-722-6941.
