Synopsis

Fifteen-year-old Christopher Boone is on a mission. After the untimely death of his neighbor’s dog, the brilliant but unique boy is compelled to investigate the crime. See the world through Christopher’s eyes as he embarks on an extraordinary journey where he challenges assumed truths and discovers life-changing secrets. Characters (All roles open)

Christopher Boone - 15-year-old male, brilliant at “maths”, on the autism spectrum, searching for the killer of his neighbor's dog, Wellington.

Siobhan (pronounced shiVAWN) - age open, teacher at Christopher's school, she understands him best.

Ed Boone - 30s - 40s, Christopher's father, loving, but quick tempered, stressed and frustrated with his situation in life. He always has Christopher's best interest at heart. Drinks a bit to cope.

Judy - 30s - 40s - Christopher's mother, loving but doesn't really understand how to relate to Christopher.

Actor 1 - female, 30s - 40s, plays Mrs. Shears, Mrs. Gascoyne, Woman on Train, Shopkeeper

Actor 2 - male, 30s - 40s, plays Roger Shears, Duty Sergeant, Mr. Wise, Man Behind Counter, Drunk One

Actor 3 - male, 20s - 40s, plays Policeman, Mr. Thompson, Drunk Two, Man with Socks, London Policeman

Actor 4 - male, 50s - 60s, plays Reverend Peters, Uncle Terry, Station Policeman, Station Guard

Actor 5 - female, 20s - 30s, plays No. 40, Lady in the Street, Information, Punk Girl

Actor 6 - female, 50s - 60s, plays Mrs. Alexander, Posh Woman

Performance Run Commitment:

January 23 – February 16*


Performance Times:

Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7:30pm,

Fridays & Saturdays at 8:00pm

Sundays at 4:00pm


Possible Extension Times:

Saturdays at 3pm, Sundays at 8pm**

Rehearsal Schedule:

Mondays thru Fridays - 6:30 - 9:30pm

Saturdays & Sundays - as necessary

*January 23 – February 9 are published, confirmed performance dates. February 12 - 16 are possible extension dates. Extension dates are added to a show based on audience demand and is determined by management once the run has begun.

Cast members will uniformly receive an honorarium to help defray the out-of-pocket expenses associated with volunteerism and participation in this production. This honorarium is not an offer of employment.

Manoa Valley Theatre does a live pre-show announcement from the stage acknowledging its play sponsors. This announcement often involves participation by one or more actors from the production.

**Sunday performances at 8pm are rare.

*** There is a special performance on Saturday February 1st at 3:00pm. This performance is already book and not open to the public.***

Perusal scripts are available to read onsite during business hours. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. In addition, you may prepare a scene from the script.

Please note: Performing in a Manoa Valley Theatre production is a commitment that affects every other participant on the production team. If you accept a role, you are expected to meet the complete requirements of this schedule. Please indicate on your audition form any existing or anticipated conflicts with this rehearsal, performance, and extension schedule and sign the bottom of your form. Sadly, conflicts not listed on your form, will not be excused.
